I found it interesting thought it was very confusing because there were to many comparisons.

I am a Studio Art and Journalism Major reading this for an assignment in college. I am so glad I picked this one. I love reading non-fiction essays written in such a poetic way. The way that he writes about death, struggle, and joy makes me question my own perception of such aspects of life. Dougherty also questions life, making me realize that he, as the writer, is still processing and analyzing the things he forces us as readers to question. His mentions of dreams, time, and what it means to be a father, tell me that he is in touch with himself and how his ability as a person affects those close to him. The way Dougherty describes other people makes me reminisce about what I love about individuals in my family. I love all the comparisons you have used to compare life and death. It has reminded me that there is more to life than grief, but it doesn’t just go away and it’s just as important to process loss than it is to live life.
